This shallow, natural lake was formed by a series of large earthquakes in the early 1800's and has developed into a fertile habitat for all sorts of wildlife. Reelfoot is separated into four basins, each connected by narrow channels and ditches, and a spillway helps the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) control the lake's water level. Reelfoot Lake's overall productivity is excellent, and it has a strong forage-base which supports good numbers of many kinds of gamefish and panfish. The lake is frequently ranked one of the premier crappie fisheries in the nation. Other popular fish on Reelfoot include bluegill, largemouth bass and catfish. Bowfishing for rough fish has also become popular. Featured Species: White Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, and Channel Catfish Map Features: Lake Profile Fishery Information
